The Land Works as Hard as We Do

Out here, caring for our mini-ranch land is as much a part of ranch life as working the livestock. Dragging and tilling the land might seem like simple chores, but they’re essential to keeping our pastures, and working spaces healthy and productive.
Why do we drag and till?
• Break down manure and debris – Dragging spreads manure evenly, returning nutrients to the soil and preventing parasite build-up that can harm livestock.
• Promote healthy pasture growth – Tilling helps aerate the soil, breaking up compacted ground and allowing moisture, seeds, and nutrients to penetrate deeper, supporting stronger forage and crop growth.
• Control weeds and pests – Both practices help disrupt weed roots and break pest cycles that thrive in undisturbed ground.
• Maintain safe, workable ground – Whether it’s for grazing, working dogs, or running stock, keeping the land level and debris-free prevents injuries and makes every job safer.
The land gives us everything—food, forage, and a way of life. Dragging and tilling aren’t just chores—they’re our way of giving back and ensuring the next season thrives.
Healthy land = Healthy livestock = Strong ranch.
